Sony Lavender Is Rumored For August Launch As Bezel-Free Xperia T4 Ultra Phablet
A report back in May revealed that Sony was working on a redesign of its Xperia smartphones in a project labeled Sony Lavender. Now, new leaks are saying that Sony Lavender will be launched in August as the new Xperia T4 Ultra (E5503).
According to Twitter leaker Upleaks, the Xperia T4 Ultra will be the company's new flagship phone. Although no official statements from Sony have been released about the alleged new phone, the leaked photos of the project show that it may be the company's first bezel-free device.
Described by reports as a "cocktail" between a smartphone and a tablet (as opposed to a phablet), the specs of the rumored new Xperia remain the same as initial online leaks indicated.
If reports are to be believed, the Xperia T4 Ultra is going to have 5.5 inches of Full HD screen, a processing speed of 1.7 GHz powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset. The device will have 2 GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera.
Leaks also suggest that the phone will have 4G LTE connectivity, dual-SIM capability, and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
No word has been made on how much the phone will be sold for at retail and all these rumors are still unconfirmed by Sony itself.
It is worth noting as well that Sony tends to release different handsets for the Japanese and U.S. market. Even if the published leaks turn out to be accurate, nobody knows if this Xperia T4 Ultra will be making its way stateside or stay in the East.
In the meantime, we can only wait one more month to see if these reports on Sony Lavender turn out to be the real deal. If rumors are true, then the Sony Xperia T4 Ultra looks to be a sweet new handset to add on Sony's roster of smartphone devices.
